It's a wonderful app if you have audio files located in multiple playback applications or locations and need a quick way to bring them together before a big party. Helium for Intel Mac (at version 1.9 currently) is listed as OS X 10.10 Yosemite or later as of version 1.8 (version 1.8 is what the MacUpdate page links to right now). It also gets a bit funny when movie trailers from Apple's site won't play in versions of QuickTime X (aka QuickTime Player v10) versions 1.0 through 1.4, but play just fine in versions of OS X with QuickTime 6.5.3, QuickTime 7.5, QuickTime 7.6.4, and QuickTime 7.7 (since the needed codecs are there).

I wrote Philip Schiller at Apple Corporate a couple years back, suggesting that the QuickTime 7 for OS X updates should be on a par with Apple's QuickTime 7 updates for Windows (and that the version numbering system used should be updated for OS X 10.5.8 and above - so that it was uniform with Snow Leopard and above), but heard nothing back. The dry irony being that QuickTime 7 was deprecated on OS X (and iOS), but Apple has continued to issue QuickTime 7 updates for Windows.
I've noted postings about, say, the link to the Apple Quicktime Movie Trailers like at only working/playing in versions of Safari, and in versions of iCab, under Tiger and Leopard PPC versions OS X, and under Snow Leopard, and users reporting having problems under Lion and above. It's certainly been noted that there isn't yet any 64-bit QuickTime 7.x.x Web Plugin that works with current Firefox, Chromium, and Google Chrome - so that users can watch the current Apple Quicktime Movie Trailers on Apple's site in those 64-bit web browsers as well (yes, I'm aware that Plugins may not be used as much "in the future" someday - although that still leaves the question of all the streaming media on so many, many sites that do, to say nothing of the mass of older machines with older OSes quite in use.). On another topic: In terms of QuickTime 7.x.x, it's unfortunate that Apple hasn't done updated QuickTime 7.7.x 32-bit/64-bit compatible installers that work with OS X 10.4.xx, OS X 10.5.x up through OS X 10.10.3 (b14D131) and that also provide 64-bit QuickTime 7.x.x Players and 64-bit QuickTime 7.x.x Plugins and Files for OS X 10.6.x and above

I've noted that sometimes, OS X Plugins associate themselves with one of the text editors or code programs users have installed - these days, more often than not, Plugins associate themselves with TextMate.app, or BBEdit.app, or Apple's TextEdit.app, or Apple's Xcode.app, instead of TextWrangler.app This is an old OS X issue, well known at least back to the OS X 10.3.x "Panther" PPC days (and probably all the way back to the first OS X builds…)
